MBA@UNC Industry Profile Series | Healthcare

This webinar will feature two current MBA@UNC students working in the healthcare industry. Jessica Ridlen and Saad Usmani will share a brief presentation discussing why they chose an MBA, their experience in the program so far, and how they've been able to apply what they've learned to make an impact at work. Each guest will share, and then we will open the floor for Q&A which will be facilitated by an Admissions Counselor.

Speakers:

Jessica Ridlen: Jessica has worked in the pharma/biotech industry for 20 years, with a breadth of experience across market access, sales leadership, operations, commercial innovation, digital marketing, communications, and account management. She started her career at Sanofi, and has also worked at GSK, GE Healthcare, Noven Pharmaceuticals, Jazz Pharmaceuticals, and now at Genentech. Jessica lives in western Maryland with her husband Robert, children (RJ – 4, and JoJo – 2), and two dogs. In her spare time, Jess likes to run, bike, hike, read, camp or travel with her family. She was training for the NYC marathon before it got canceled, and plans to run it next year. She has a BA from Seton Hall University, and is graduating in October with her MBA from UNC-Chapel Hill.

Saad Usmani: Saad Zafar Usmani received his medical education at Allama Iqbal Medical College in Lahore, Pakistan. He completed a residency in internal medicine at Sinai-Grace Hospital/Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan and a fellowship in hematology and oncology at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington, Connecticut. Dr. Usmani joined the faculty of the Levine Cancer Institute in July 2013; he also currently holds an academic appointment as Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill School of Medicine. Dr. Usmani is board certified in internal medicine, medical oncology, and hematology, and he is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. He holds membership in several professional societies, including the International Myeloma Working Group, the SWOG Myeloma Committee, the American Society of Hematology (ASH), the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and the American Society of Bone Marrow Transplantation. Dr. Usmani is on the editorial review board of numerous medical journals, has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed manuscripts and over 200 abstracts at national and international meetings. His better half is an Infectious Diseases physician and they have three kids (ages 16, 13 and 8 years). The Usmani family loves the great outdoors and love to travel together to explore new destinations around the world.
